I cycled from Land's End to John O'Groats in April–May 2009. I took in some other extremities of this Sceptred Isle, The Lizard (S), Ardnamurchan Point (W), Cape Wrath (NW), Dunnet Head (N), Duncansby Head (NE), Cape Cornwall (Britain's other Cape) and possibly the Orkneys. 20 days was enough to cover the 1,304 miles and 100,000ft of hills. I'm raised funds for CORD a charity that helps people to rebuild their lives after conflict and NOTDEC which supports an orphanage in Uganda.

ReplyDeleteHi Richard - looks like you're going really well esp. coping with the weather. A couple of big days seemed to get you from the West Country to the North pretty quickly.
ReplyDeleteI was getting willy-shrinkage looking at your ascent figures, 2,000 ft a day; 3,500 ft; 4,500. It just seemed to be getting bigger and bigger til i realised just now it was cumulative!
I did my event in Mpumulanga I told you about last week; Saturday - Tuesday 300km & the ascent was 5,200mtrs. Am going to train more for it next yr.
Hope your ride doesnt get any harder & good luck.
Peter
ahhh Claire put me right - it's the daily ascent after all!!! Goodness me that's a lot of climbing on a heavy, loaded bike!!!!
